Chicken boarders

My friend is borrowing one of my eglus for a while. I have just been down the garden to sort it out and I can't get one of the screws out of the eglu. The cross bit of the screw has turned into a round hole and I think that the screw bit has rusted.

 

I have managed to manoeuvre the run round the side of the round metal washer but I wondered whether anyone had any bright ideas to try and get the screw out? I have sprayed a bit of WD40 to try and loosen it but that doesn't seem to have worked.

When I had this, WD40 did the trick - sorry, can't suggest anything else. Doubtless there's something technical you can do involving drills but I'm not going to tempt fate by suggesting it!

I think it's a tap and die set you need I have that in my brain somehow... I think that sets a newgroove in the screw???! I will ask hubby when he gets in...

2 options

1 is to drill it out

the other is a damages screw extracter. machine mart is the best place for one of these

a tap and die set or for making threads a tap for the hole. a die for a rod or bar and to make a thread long on a bolt

now the run is off is there enough gap under the screw for you to grip the screw head with pliers and use them to turn the screw

 

if the screw is stuck use the pliers to tighten it a bit, this then helps you loosen it (for some reason!!)
