chickenopolis
Hi - am a bit worried...can someone help me please. Flo is just over a year old, laying every day, eating and drinking, scratting around, like you would expect a chicken to behave. Her face, at certain times of the day is cream/very pale and not the usual pink colour. She has not had a moult yet, she has been recently wormed and have checked her for parasites/bugs - nothing! I clean out the Cube every week - replacing the bedding etc, and have never found any mites when I have been doing it. Checking on her tonight as she snuggled into the nest box, I noticed that her wattles are not bright pink and the bottom of them is slightly pale - matching her face. Has anyone got any ideas please? Tutti Frutti
Hello! SOunds like you've checked her for all the right things... just wondering which wormer you used? I was advised by a vet to use Flubenvet (previously on Verm-X which is more like a preventative rather that Flub's cure!). Hope someone else comes along with a better idea soon. Which feed are you giving her? Just wondering if she's getting enough nutrients...???
Egluntyne
I agree, if you wormed her with a herbal supplement, it would be worth doing again with Flubenvet.
Plum
An observation that might be relevant - I've noticed a couple of mine go slightly paler before they lay. I think it's something to do with increased abdominal pressure. They go back red afterwards.
