Introductions - are 2 new ones better than 1?

Recommended Posts

Having lost Daisy to a fox, we are thinking about getting another friend for Amber and Bluebell (and another pet for my little boy).

Is it better/easier to introduce 2 new ones to an existing 2.....or 1 new one?

(tempting though it is to get 2 new ones, we don't want to make introductions any harder than they need to be) :?

Definitely go for two if you have room. It not only dilutes the bullying, but also means that the newbies each have a friend - which they generally keep for life. Our last two really seemed to help and support one another against the bullying oldies.

def 2 .

I bought home 2 new girls (white chicken)(white chicken) on saturday, but i purchased the new girls from the same pen so they knew each other, there has been alot of noise from the existing girls but the 2 newbies have just wondered off scratching around together so they are keeping each other company.

yes - we have room for 2 more......I should have known that everyone on here would say 2 is better than one.....but its nice to have some "sound scientific reasons" just in case I need to persuade anyone that 2 more is a good idea. :whistle:

like Bennett I brought 2 new girls home Saturday and there was a LOT of noise Saturday and Sunday. but they've gone back to normal now I hope

Sunday's noise was mainly bragging about the eggs they had laid It didn't help that all 7 laid 4 with in an hour or so. and the last 2 screamed the place down together
