Eglu for tortoises?

Recommended Posts

I have two tortoises which are big enough to go out into the garden this summer. The Eglu looks fantastic and I have been looking at the rabbit version with the run and think it would be ideal. Before I invest, I just need to be sure of the following. If anyone has the rabbit eglu, please could you tell me how high the step is from the run into the eglu? Also, can someone describe the interior of the eglu please? I would just need to put some bedding in there for the tortoises (Sarah and Percy) and want to be sure it will be ok. If anyone else uses it for tortoises, it would be good to hear from you.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Here's some pictures of my Leopard tortoise (Approx 4 -5 inches at the time) in the eglu!

If you have outside electrics you might be able to set the eglu up for tortoises!I think the safest option for heat might be a Electric hen as i think bulbs might melt the Eglu.

What breeds are your tortoises?

If you have Horsfields they love to dig so you might need some mesh or something at the base of the run!

If we get any more tortoises in the future i would definitely be investing in a rablu for them.

Just wish omlet would make some tortlu's :pray:

Fantastic! He/she looks really happy in there! I've got 2 Hermans and I do think they would try to make a bid for freedom so would have to think about a solution to that. They are about the same size as yours so should manage the step. Many thanks for your help!! I agree - a tortlu woud be perfect!! :D
