Grovefarm
Hi all, I have a girl who has a bit of an issue, it seems like she is sneezing and clucking afterwards, makes her sound a bit like a donkey. Apart from it being like constantly having hiccups it does not seem to bother her at all. Does anyone know what it may be. youtube vid Regards Dale
Redwing
Well thats very odd, it made me jump! (not to mention the dog who immediately went in to a blind panic ) I dont know what it is, I suppose she could have had airsack damage in the past?? She looks well, lots of life in her and she is in good condition so no problems there
Grovefarm
I'm not sure either, vets here are no good for chickens and I started wondering if I should do something about it (if you know what i mean), I would be more worried if she looked poorly or was any different than normal but she seems fine in herself. staceychristie
Fab, but not for the neighbours One of ours honks like a goose, but only when she's trying to stuff so much corn in, she sneezes. Stacey
sandyhas3chucks
well it is not strange to me at all, as one of my disable exbats has air sac damage and always wheezes like yours. that open beak and gasp is what she is doing AFTER the sneeze. Some questions, how long has she been doing it? Does she do it all the time? Apart from anything yes you should get her looked at, you can look for Avian vets(or just good vets) on here forum recommeded vets or here... use the advance search and tick poultry then ring them. http://www.rcvs.org.uk/Templates/System/practicedetail.asp?NodeID=89812&PracticeNodeID=376072&SearchType=practice It could be something stuck in her nostril.... she may have an infection which she is fighting but needs some antibiotic to knock it on the head. whatever.. she should be seen by a vet. poultry vet or not, they should be more than competant to examine her beak and beck for obstruction abnd listen to her chest, but sadly from other peoples exp not all vets ARE that helpful, so do have a good look first.
