chicken bark
How much difference is there between a hybrid hen's egg size and a bantam's egg size? Two of my hybrid hens are laying and one has good size eggs and one has small. Would a bantams egg be much smaller than my hybrids smallest egg? I don't have any bantams but would consider them if their eggs weren't going to be ridiculously small. Also I'm assuming that medium sized hybrids and bantams can all bunk up together? Questions, questions, questions... Edited April 18, 2010 by Guest
jellykelly
My dutch bantie egg is a silly small size. Bigger then a mini egg but smaller then a creme egg. It'd take 4 to fill a sandwich.
Guest
My bantams eggs are half the size of a normal sized egg.
atsw
How much difference is there between a hybrid hen's egg size and a bantam's egg size? My Pekin Bantams typically lay 34g eggs. That's about half the 'normal' size of a medium shop egg. The yokes are almost the same size as a medium egg, but with much less white. Also I'm assuming that medium sized hybrids and bantams can all bunk up together? Mine certainly do. I've got two Eglu's, but all four bantams and my two Sussex Star's all sleep together in the same coup, so that's six in one Eglu by their choice. Somewhat bizarre, as the there's only two girls using the other Eglu . Andrew
