Hell
Hi im a newbie i guess and could really use some advise. This morning I noticed one of our ladys has a bloody vent and no feathers around her vent. Ive had her in and given her a warm bath and dry but wasnt sure about applying any oil as she seems to have a tiny sore. Shes still laying as normal, eating and drinking and out in the dust bath with the others but shes passing blood and has a really mucky looking bottom despite being bathed where some of her poo and blood seem to be collecting rather than dropping to the floor? Any help or suggestions welcome please, she does look a sorry state although she is happily pottering around the garden.
Egluntyne
The blood could be coming from her egg laying tackle, which might be being pecked at when it everts briefly on laying the egg, or she might have a small internal tear from laying a large egg. The fact that she has no feathers and a sore area suggests that one of her companions has been having a go at her. The mucky bum might suggest worms, so I think I'd worm her when you have got the other matter sorted. I'd spray her sore bits with Gentian Violet ( purple) spray. It is mildly antiseptic, and will disguise the wound.
Plum
If she has blood from faeces rather than laying tackle it might be worth having a stool speciment sent to check for infection.
