Hi,

 

I have a problem with Babs, After being very poorly with croup problems due to eating bedding in the laying box

I have ran out of options, She eats straw, sandust, aubiose,hay and wood bark, I have ran out of ideas of what

to put in to stop her making herself poorly. HELP

I would try her without anything at all.

Might be worth giving her a supplement in case she is trying to make up for a deficit.

Hi there, we got our two chickens last week and I suspect that one of them may be eating her bedding also - just wondered what symptoms you are seeing. Our chicken seemed depressed and was making a coughing CAW sound every so often. I wondered whether she had a crop problem and gave it a bit of a massage, felt the size of a golf ball so not sure it was the problem. She seems a lot happier today so the massage may have solved the problem.

She was very depressed, laying softies ( due to filling up on bedding)and had crop problems.

Might be worth spraying her bedding with Bitter Beak or another anti pecking spray, and then letting it dry before you give her access to it.

Yes, spraying the bedding with anti peck spray should deter her, if not remove the bedding.

I'll give that a go if necessary, she seemed right as rain when I got home yesterday.
