PurpleTree
I need help, my friend finally booked her wedding this week after being engaged 9 years. They've decided to get married in Bude in the middle of August - this year! She's informed me that we're invited, wasn't really expecting to be as she said they were keeping it very small and simple with only 20 guests, but we've been friends since school. My problem now is to find somewhere to stay, that isn't going to cost a fortune. It needs to be able to cater for me and hubby, a 5 year old, 3 year old and a month or so old baby. My parents have also agreed to come to look after the boys while we're at the wedding, although my friend is happy for us to bring the children too, we'd have more fun without them. I've looked at a few places online and they're either really, really expensive or they don't do long weekends in August. We usually go camping for our holidays, but as it could be as little as 4 weeks after having a baby, I don't know if I'll be in a fit state to pitch a tent. So does anyone have any suggestions? At the moment it looks increasingly likely that we might have to give it a miss
ClaireG
These seem to do 3 night breaks then and don't seem too bad price wise. Also lots of things for the children to do. http://www.johnfowlerholidays.com/module/acms_subSites?site=Widemouth-Bay-Caravan-Park&_$ja=kw:Self+catering+Bude|cgn:Self+Catering+Bude|cgid:680426137|tsid:7308|cn:Local+Campaign|cid:25701967|lid:11327887027|mt:Broad|nw:search|crid:3625122727
Seagazer
Funnily enough I was going to suggest Widmouth Bay as we stayed there - gosh nearly 23 years ago and its just outside of Bude. I was pregnant with my first child then. I've no idea what its like now though but it wasn't too far to Bude (my mum and dad were going to buy a B & B in Bude many moons ago). I should think there would be lots of B & B type places if you want to stay in the town. How lovely that your parents can look after the kiddies so that you can have some grown up time. Seagazer
The coastline is just stunning isn't it. Obviously I didn't go surfing at the time but we had a lovely break down there.
PurpleTree
Thanks for the ideas. I think after a lot of thought and discussion we've decided to give it a miss As hubby pointed out it could be only 4 weeks after having a baby, I may not be feeling my best. It's a 3 and a half hour drive at best, and doing that with 2 young 'uns and a very young baby fills me slightly with dread. I am disappointed we'll be missing but hopefully she'll understand, and to be honest I've got other things I need to spend £300+ on. Wish it was next year then we wouldn't have any problems at all, but hey ho!
Lewis
I'm sure she'll understand
