Ain't Nobody Here
Mine's the Samsung 5230 . They must have been separated at birth . They look very similar - let me know if you manage to get on the internet, perhaps you can talk me through it .
Cooks
 yep twins well I haven't managed it yet.. I have managed to send a few texts after transferrring my contacts over and needed help from Em to change the ringtone, as in my defence, it was in a hidden area of the phone... I will try to get on the internet tomorrow.. I am loving it do far though. Carphone warehouse wanted £110 and phones 4 u were £84.95... errrmmm didn't take much thinking about.. annnnnndd it's White and I have never had a white phone.. *easily pleased*
Cooks
well after much toing and froing ANH I took my Nokia 5230 back! as it was just pants and wouldn't sends emails or anything and then gave up the ghost sending texts too. All settings were fine *sigh* (had a bit of a job getting a refund mind you ) soooo if anyone needs a unique designed back cover for the Nokia 5230 it just came in the post... as I had designed that online. I have the samsung genio qwerty now, I spent almost half the price of the Nokia (as it was on offer)and much prefer it. My son made me get him the same phone yesterday! although I bought it from a different shop and it came with different coloured battery colours so it's different serves me right for thinking I needed a touch phone, I dont, I hated it if I am honest..
Ain't Nobody Here
That's a shame . Glad you like your new one though and result that it was cheaper . I really like my Tocco Lite . Had lots of occasion to use it while stranded in Spain so have got the hang of it now. I really like the touch screen and the sideways keyboard (which doesn't work every time though, which is slightly irritating ). Got a black rubber protective case for it and a screen protector so I'm all set .
Cooks
I toyed with getting that myself but gell in love with the quirkiness of the genio.. it's ickle! I ahd bought a rubber case and screen cover for the nokia but chucked those in the bin in a huff.. new case on its way..
henriette
I recently swapped my wonderful old Motorola for a LG GD150. What a total disaster I just wish I had had the common sense to do what you did ANH and ask on the forum.) To be fair to the phone, I think it is the owner who is at fault. I should never have had touch phone. I am all over the place with it but I suppose the more I use it the better I will understand it. Unfortunately, orange wont take it back under any circumstances. It doesn't have a case and yesterday while I was in the UK somehow I must have pressed something by accident and it clicked on to the internet. Dread to think how long it had been on or how much it is going to cost I have decided that the best thing is to buy a case for it so that that can't happen. I was sure I had it locked, but obviously not! Are some cases better than others does anyone know please?
Ain't Nobody Here
What a shame . I hope your bill isn't too bad . I took a while to get to grips with the touch phone but really like it now I know the shortcuts to punctuation, etc. I bought a cheap rubber case from an Amazon seller. It's not very pretty but you can't really see it so that doesn't matter, it makes gripping the phone much easier and protects it if you drop it. I also put a screen protector film on. I still have to lock the phone to prevent rogue buttons being pressed. The case doesn't prevent that. If you got a flip case it would though, I reckon. henriette
If you got a flip case it would though, I reckon. Checked with Amazon, but finally went to our local Orange shop and bought the flip case that is actually for the phone. It was nearly 15 euros, but the guy guaranteed that it would protect the phone completely and not allow the touch pad to be pressed inadvertantly I must admit, I feel much happier now

Tutti Frutti
After extensive research (and umming and aahing ) I eventually went for the Samsung Tocco Lite . I was going to buy it from Tesco Direct as they had 25% off but when I went to the Orange shop to have a look at the phone, the chap asked me where I worked then said because I work for the City of Edinburgh Council I could have £20 off if I produced a payslip . Thanks ANH! My old Pebl died last night so I had to dash out and buy one today and, thanks to this thread, I got a Tocco too! if you send TEXTANDWEB (all one word) to 21300, each time ypu top up £10 you get 300 texts and 500Mb data for surfing see here No wonder Currys and Phones4U laughed when I asked for a council discount - wrong shop
Ain't Nobody Here
Hope you like it, I'm really happy with mine . I've discovered a couple of little things which make life easier (and you don't find in the manual easily!) like : - when you type a word in T9 and more than one option comes up, press '0' to scroll through the options (rather than trying to press the right word with a fingernail!). Works for the punctuation too. - rather than the long-winded way of getting to commonly used numbers, use "Top 5" in widgets and keep it on one of your 3 screens (I've not found a speed dial option .. yet ) Go to Settings, Display, Widget and tick Top 5. Put your top 5 numbers in "Favourites" in your address book. Can't think of any more just now!
Tutti Frutti
Yikes sounds scary! I've only just figured out how to turn it on, text and listen to the radio But thank you, no doubt I'll be ready in a couple of months and will be back again to pick your brains some more
Ain't Nobody Here
Another tip . If the beeping when pressing keys bugs you, press the slider on the top left side of the phone and you can turn it up or down . Took me a while to find that out . Tutti Frutti
Here's a top tip! If you're texting, turn the handset round so it's landscape and the QWERTY keyboard pops up
