What makes a chicken coop easy to live with?

We got columbines Honey and Treacle on Easter Sunday. Both have settled brilliantly, are happy and apparently healthy, eating well, integrating with the others etc. Now clever Treacle has been laying pretty green eggs for a whole week now, but so far we have had nothing from little madame Honey! Her comb is slightly lighter than Treacle's but not much, and it's developing nicely. Do some take a lot longer than others to start to lay? Am I being too much of a demanding Mummy?

I bought a Columbine POL in October... she finally started laying mid February...

 

I think it's just one of those things, some hens take longer than others and you just have to be patient and wait! But the good thing is that you will be surprised when she does eventually start laying! I'm sure it won't be long.

My Silkie cross Pipa didn't lay until she was about 40 weeks. Now she's not laying cos she's broody again, she's very pretty but not much use as a chicken really, more decorative I think.

it could be that Honey is a bit younger than the other

I've had several blue egg layers and have found that, in general, they come into lay much later than brown eggers. Mine have been around the 30 week mark. So I would say you were lucky with Treacle and she was either a bit older or an early starter. Don't worry, Honey will be laying soon

Thank you all.....I read your replies last night and it made me feel a lot better! However, it appears that Honey must have done tooas she has popped into the nest bix and laid us a lovely little blue egg!! Clever girl!! She is now a woman!!
