Blocked Nostrils? Relief PHEW

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Dorothy seems to have a pulsating face!!! The skin between her Nostrils and her eye (on both sides) seems to be going in and out when she breathes. Her neck doesn't seem to be affected. She's breathing with her beak shut (I think).

She's eating, drinking and pooing ok, and she's not rattling - she's the picture of health.

I've not noticed this from her before, and my other 4 are ok, and don't do this.

Been wormed etc, but no ones laid since November.

Any idea why this bit of skin is moving please?

Thanks, Stacey

Thanks Plum.

She's perky still, and stuffing her face. Poos OK. Off to Vets this evening (preventative really) but I will post here later on to let you know. It is strange though, as she's always the most vocal, and I just noticed that this bit of skin was going in and out when she breathed. She's not rattling, and can still outrun me :P , her comb is also still very red and upright.

Thanks

Stacey

Stacey, how did Dorothy get on at the vets? Strangely, my ex-barnie Ursula has started doing it too since she got back from her fortnight's holiday at the farm! Then this morning, she had a drink of water and threw it up :shock: She leant forward and it spilled out of her beak - maybe she just drank too much too quickly??? Or doesn't like the taste of the anit-Bs I've put in - what with Ursula and a couple of others sniffling, they might have caught something and I don't want anything to take hold! Once the anti-bs are done, I'll give them a break then Flubenvet them, as who knows how worm-infested the land is at the farm?

Worried that the old girl is nearing her time... and I've become so attached to the funny, friendly, chatty little old girl in just a few months :(

Sorry it's been so long Tutti,(I hate it when people don't come back to this forum after the diagnosis)

Well, just got back from vets today, after we lost one recently - could have sworn that Dorothy was struggling for breath.

Good news is that Dorothy is fine and well. Vet poked around her nostrils (Yes I know, I wouldn't of either, but he is a specialist.). She has a blockage caused by a damaged nostril (???) but it has healed and could have been there for months.

No AntiBiotics, just a bit of TLC and a hug (Ahhhhhh)

The draining fluid from your girls beak is quite common to ours too. The vet said that if it's clear, then there was no problem, as sometimes they overfill their crop so they can move solids around inthere. Girls love to drink it when it comes back out - YYYEEWWWWWWW :o

THANK YOU Stacey for letting me know, funnily enough I've been checking Ursula out and she just kind of stopped, just like that! Glad Dorothy is OK! They certainly have us wound round their little fingers, don't they?
