Sons argue all the time over this and frankly today we had had enough. when I got back from allotment OH announced he'd put it in the loft. YS was looking at a book and ES was watching a DVD. We monitor use on school nights but they argue constantly and frankly today I had threatened to disappear - but wasnt sure where the shed on allotment is home to spiders, no electricity and a tad drafty. Anyway who knows if and when it will reappear. We do regret getting it and wondered if other parents had done similar.

I would be very sad if the PS3 was taken away from me.

I love to use it when I've got some time. I have to fight with the kids (adults) to get on it and it's very annoying when they are at home. The queue gets quite long. I think you should resurrect it, get some games for yourself (ratchet and clank or lego ones are fun) and make them wait while you use it. You have the advantage, being mother and you'll probably find that they enjoy showing the old girl how to use it. You'll have them yelling in your ear, 'shoot, shoot now....why didn't you shoot?' I'm still pretty hopeless at it after all these years.

The playstation is a dreadful time waster but is relaxing and so I always used to let them use it before exams, their minds were working, but not fixating on what was coming up.

They've used that strategy before driving tests, job interviews, all sorts of things. It seems to work.

Use it to watch Blu ray's on (if you have a HD TV) its like being at the cinema!

both my kids have one in their rooms and play against their friends and each other and I do sympathise, they have had their internet connection taken from them on numerous occasions (they dont like playing it on the 1 player mode )

I dont regret buying them really as all their friends have them, but I do like to get out the house sometimes.... oooh I could put a chair in the WIR! they are much better company

Up until recently we have been pretty much a two telly family (one in the sitting room one in the kitchen)..so that sort of restricts usage video gaming ....

 

However since my MIl passed away there has been a spare telly which my son has in his room.

 

fortunately he is 17 now so really old enough to choose for himself but I'm glad he didn't have it before because we see less of him now definitely...

 

I still insist at certain times (other than just meals) he comes and joins us....found the best way is to find a film we can all share or a comedy programme...nothing unites a family quite so much as humour
