Aimee
I'm really excited as my is being put up tomorrow and on Sunday I'll be fetching home some chickens. My original plan was to go to a breeder about 40 minutes drive away as they have a large selection of hybrids to pick from and I've been busy researching the different types available in order to make the right choice for us. Today though I've found chickens for sale at a farm not far from where I live. When I spoke to a lady over the phone she told me they had Black Nero, Blue Star, Amber Ranger, Speckled Rock and something with 'White' that I didn't quite catch. When I've tried to look these up I've drawn a blank. Does anyone know anything about them, or is it possible they are known by other names? Thanks Aimee
Falkor
They are just different names for your standard hyrids. Have a look here
MummyHen
I'm not sure I can answer your question but I have hybrids from here http://www.henhousepoultry.co.uk/ if you then go to Chickens for Sale on the left you'll see pictures of chickens with similar names to those you mention. I'm very happy with my hybrid girls BTW - good luck with your and new girls - its very addictive Rachel

Aimee
Today was the day and we've brought home five gorgeous chickens. I wasn't sure which type or how many we would bring home. Thanks for the link Falkor - that was the farm we were going to - I hadn't thought to check out if they had their own site. So far, so good. They seem to have settled in well, despite the attention of two of our cats - the chickens seem to have quickly worked out that the cats aren't getting in and are happily ignoring them. The cats haven't yet worked out there's no way in and are busily casing the cube, hoping for an entry point.... Thanks Aimee (Ps I can't work out how to post pics and have taken some ok ones. Despite having fab husband who is an ICT teacher, I don't want to ask him how to do this as it will result in a very long lesson in all possible ways and then an even longer lesson in picture editing. Any tips would be gratefully received before I crack and end up asking!)
