HELP aggressive chicken

We currently have our eglu on grass, however it's not the best option as the hens are just pecking the grass away. We would like a more permanent spot for them, could we put them on concrete with wood chippings?

I have a WIR on concrete with bedmax down which are large shavings, but I have used Aubiose and hemcore which are excellent also. I haven't used wood chippings.

I started with woodchip on slabs and had it several inches deep. It worked well with raking and poo picking it lasted over 3 months

I'm must about to put my cube into a new WIR with concrete slab (ie paving, not liquid concrete) based. There are pros and cons of both elsewhere on this thread (probably on the one with 97 pages!). I don't have a concrete mixer so have laid 400x400 slabs on sand (with a bit of concrete mixed in). Too early to tell you how good it is - but atsw has had his eglu classics on slabs quite happily for a year now - and I'm sure many others can provide thoughts too.

Hi, thanks for all your help, we have now moved the cube to part slabs and just mud, we have put chippings down and they are loving it, probably not as nutritious as grass but hey ho, its a permant home for them, we are going to let them free range alot more, but atm they arent coming out of the cube!! xxx
