Hi jozza, you know the maths - very roughly 1 chicken / sq metre So do the sums :!: What are the dimensions of your run. I have to say though, they can never have enough space, my 5 have more than 30 sq. metres and they still want more  Only you know, are your hens happy & content, do they get much F/range time :?: These are all the things you have to consider & I know that you will. Axx

My run is 2.5 x 7m and I have seven hens in it and that's just about right. Any more and they would be too cramped.

You could always make your run two dimensional and add a top layer of branches, perches. Like a chicken gym or an additional platform . . it would create more space i suppose. There are loads of ideas on here . . check out the threads . . . .

I was going to suggest the same as AJuff - we don't have a WIR, only a cube with extensions and to provide extra space we have in it freestanding perches, stools, mezzanine level and broom handle perches - so if we can do that in a cube run, you should be able to do loads in a WIR! :D
