Eglu Cube Coop and Accessories

My pekin bantam has gone broody, if i lock her out of the coop, she will turn very noisy and agressive to other chooks. i have not got a broody cage, and its cold outside so i dont really want to dunk her under water..

so shall i just let her get on with it? or lock her out and just hope the neighbours wont complain..

i would get her some eggs, but we're too busy planning and building a WIR, and concentrating on getting some ex batts.

Anyone care to help me, on telling me what to do? shes been broody for 2 weeks now, and i jsut keep locking her out, but if the others want to lay i open the run door and let them go in.. but she gets agressive .

I've got the same problem, but Spec's been broody for 3 weeks now - and I'm off on hols in 1 week - not sure what to do either!!!

Can you borrow a dog crate from someone? It is the quickest way.

 

Unfortunately, Pekins go broody at the drop of a hat. I have one that has been broody tree times since the beginning of April. The cage and the cooler weather have done the trick at last.

My Pekins also go broody very easily (and usually together too ). I've given up trying to force them out of it now, they seem to give up themselves after 20-25 days and start laying again within 10 days of being back on their feet. Keeping them out of the nesting boxes is the biggest issue. These days, if both Pekins are on both nest boxes the other girls just sit on top of a Broody Pekin when they need to lay .

This sounds just like my little girlies. I have a pair of broody pekins at the moment who I'm constantly turfing out of the same eglu nestbox, and at one point today there was a brahma bantam and another peking trying to lay on top of them (despite the other eglu being free!)

 

I've just hatched with another broody pekin and could honestly have another 2 lots on the go if I had the space!

I have a broody brahma bantam sitting on eggs - she's been seperated. I also have a big cochin that has been broody for the last 4 days. She's too clumsy to ever sit on eggs or hatch chicks and I have been trying to break her (I can't borrow a cage either - no one has one!). I keep locking her out of the nest box. She does normal chicken stuff and looks like she's forgotten about the nest box, until I open it. As soon as I've turned my back - she's in there!!

I am persevering though and will continue to do so.
