Chicken boarders

I have had chickens in the past but they were large hybrids and my cats knew to keep well clear of them but now i am planning to get some pekin bantams and wondered if you thought they would be okay with my cats if i let them free range in the garden. 2 of my cats are fine but the girl, Lucy can be a problem.

Does anyone else have pekins and cats and do they get on okay, can the pekins stand up for themselves as well as large fowl?

Not much help really as don't have a cat but...

My new 14 week old Pekin Bantams peck and chase my Cocker Spaniel off and he is quite wary of them now, although he isn't the bravest of dogs !

Funny you should say this.

When i first got Blanche, she shouted at my cat, Ollie, untill he came into the house!

He was terrified. They now ignore eachother, well, until he bothers her, looks at her, then she shouts, again!

i've just watched one of my pekins beat up my Siamese cat as she came down the garden. She is a terrible hunter but hasn't even looked at them since one of them jumped on her back and rode her down the garden because the cat messed around with her knicker feathers

My next door neighbour has 3 bantams and 3 cats and doesn't seem to have a problem. (Apart from one of the cats eating pellets )

Thanks for your help i feel quite reassured now but will of course keep a close eye on them if i get any.
