Hi guys. We are about to purchase our very first caravan

 

What sort of things can you not do without for a basic weekend away?

 

Anything at all from a kettle to an awning. We are trying to decide what we need without spending huge pennies.

 

Also what do you do about insurance?

 

We are sorting a towbar this week so any advice welcome.

 

Where do people stand on anti sway bars and motor movers?

My parents had a caravan and my Dad swore by the stabilizer. Plus the extra mirrors.

Friends of ours have just had a quote for a towbar £1400 It is for a BMW but it seems rather a lot

 

Agree with Olly plus books, games for when it rains

 

We only used ours for going to archery tournaments, awning was very useful as we only ever stayed in a field, it kept muddy shoes and clothes out of the van.

Jug with a long spout for topping up the toilet flush fluid

Torch / camping light - plus spare batteries

quote for tow bar was £300+, but can do a DIY jobby for £140 luckily hubby is excellent at this sort of thing.

 

Now we have decided to do it, we are Very excited!
