New Chickens and a very useful contact

Recommended Posts

I have been chomping at the bit for the last couple of weeks since my WIR was finished to add to my little flock.

Well tonight I got the phone call to say that my new girls were ready for collection as they are now 12 weeks old.

They are (all Bantams) a Wyandotte, and 2 Rhode island Reds - I was going to just have one of each, but it would have been mean to leave the RIR on it's own wouldn't it - I know you all understand what I mean!!!

I'm picking them up on Friday and have a hutch for them to live in within the WIR until I'm happy for them to go in with my 4 Pekins. I will be having some more from the same breeder later in the year (Barbu D'uccles and Marans) and possibly something else - you know how it is with chickens!!

The guy who keeps and breeds these girls is a very useful person to have found too - he was one of the senior people at Dudley Zoo for 20 years and is an Avian expert. An absolute godsend as I haven't come across any vets around here who know much about poultry.

Will post some pic's of my newbies, and my current girls too as I don't think I've ever managed to before, and all in Fowlty Towers.
