Dock problem

Recommended Posts

Went to have a look around the garden yesterday to find my onion bed, which had been doing so well, awash with Docks

They are terrible to get out, with really long roots,& I don't want to disturb or damage the onions,so am I best of leaving them or using a touch killer of some sort?

I would just take the tops off them as low was you can go, where they are close to the onions and the others try to pull up as much as you can. You would have to be so careful with weedkiller so close to a crop. When you have harvested the onions leave the docks in place to grow then treat them with weedkiller in the autumn.

I know how it feels, it is this time of year when we feel that we are losing the battle against the weeds wspecially if we have had some rain. We have a similar problem with bindweed in our strawberry patch.
