Snoxy
I usually go to Thornes but I was told by the 'lady' who works there that they didn't have any older Warren-type hens only 16-20 week old and particularly wanted older ones that are already laying I got Minnie and Olive (Goldlines) from Warren Villa Poultry in Sandy yesterday It's so lovely to know you are out there only a stones throw away Lou

What's Warren Villa like? As I live so close to Sandy! Do they only sell hens only or do they also sell feed etc?

squiggin
I got my hens from Thornes too - I've got some stuff from bedfordshire growers in upper caldecote but they don't seem to sell auboise which I've heard is the thing to have for bedding - any idea where you can get this in north herts/ beds? Snoxy
I get my bedding from T C Feeds, Dovehouse Lane, Kensworth but that is probably a trek for you?! Warren Villa Poultry are not at all like Thornes...the poultry free-range in a field...there were only about a dozen hens when I went and some cockerels which were separate in large WIRs but they were due to move around 300 hens into the field very soon (probably done that now) from the place where they raise them...I did have the opportunity to go there and choose younger hens from their stock but wanted layers anyway so it worked out well The people who own it are Peter and Debbie, they were very helpful...check out their website www.warrenvillapoultry.co.uk

I think you mean G&M Growers in Upper Caldecote! (Bedfordshire Growers is just outside Potton) If you're near G&M then try Frontier Agriculture Country Store on the A1 just north of Sandy. It had a fab range of equestrian products, including bedding (I'm almost 100% certain they sell Auboise) as well as an increasing range of Poultry feed and accessories!!
