Lesley
I bought a small plant from the National Herb Centre last year - mostly as an attractive plant for the herb garden, but the label says you can eat it.......it grew to a bush 5' tall .........and seeded I have hundreds of seedlings coming up all the time.......I planted 20 of them a month or so ago and thought about eating some.......has anyone else ever cooked any? It looks as if it's related to Fat Hen and has the same feel to the leaves.... we eat the Fat Hen so I think it will taste the same.
Daphne
I'd never heard of it and was imagining something unpleasantly large and Triffid-like But its very pretty isn't it

The Dogmother
Ahh, I see. I thought it looked different. Looks like I'll be at Stratford this Saturday - Ian can't have the dog for the day, so we're not able to go to Chatsworth.
chickencam
Looks interesting, but if it seeds like Fat Hen I don't want it in my garden.
Lesley
It is exacatly like fat hen - millions of seedlings, just like fat hen but with a magenta dot in the middle. I've spent months pulling up hundreds and hundreds of ash seedlings and now I've got them under control I'm pulling tree spinach seedlings
The Dogmother
I'll have a few then Lesley, and take the risk. I have a bed at the bottom of the garden, where not much else grows; it can colonise that. the chooks will be in 7th heaven.
