Raina
Hi all, Since February, Orakiah (More dominant chook) has been making a right racket in the morning. It starts at about 5:45 am and she paces round then run all frantic,We've tried locking them up but she was still the same. (It sounds like her egg laying noise but there's never an egg) Well Yesterday we think we've figured out why she's been making the noise. We think she's been looking for/calling our Border Collie.Orakiah always stops making the noise when Holly is outside,She did make the noise during the day yesterday and that's when Holly was locked up in the house as a Male family member was taking down the shed,Once he left Holly was allowed out again and Orakiah was quiet for the rest of the day. Holly spends 90% of her time with the chickens,The Chooks even go to sleep next to her when they are in the run. What do you all think? batcatz
Hi, ah how cute! Chickens usually associate humans with food or being let out and will shout until they get what they want, especially if they are used to a routine. Maybe Orakiah is calling Holly! Do you let the chickens out at the same time as you let the dog out or give them a treat? Could they actually be shouting for you? If not I think Orakiah is calling for her friend. V. cute. Guest
She might associate your dog Holly ( My dogs name ) with protection so she might feel unsafe.
