Cheryl
Well, I just hatched 5 gorgeous Polands, its my first time and I havent really slept for days.. 1 hatched fine but the other 4 got dried out and after 24 hours I had to intervene and lucky I did because the ones I didn't help died (there were three).. I'm not sure what I did wrong and I have been trying to find out , humidity? Anyway one of them has curled under feet.. I'm very concerned, does anyone out there know if they could right themselves or should I wait a few days then make some shoes (orthopaedic) to help him.. they are all bobbing about at the moment and seem full of beans... chick wiggle
His feet will probably straighten out if you make a 'shoe' for him/her. I had to do it for one of mine once, i used a piece of cardboard cut to size, put his foot on it and straightened out his toes, then taped over the top of them. It takes a while but can work. Oh, and its definately a two man job! Good luck with it and congratulations on your hatch BTW, what % was your humidity, because too high is just as bad as too low
Cheryl
Well my humidity was 44-45% then at hatching about 67% .. Brindsea recommends this so I do not know what I did wrong, plus why my chicks had such a dry birth.. any suggestions welcome

Roobaloo
I don't know much about the anatomy of chicken feet but I'd guess it's a case of contracted tendons. The supportive shoes will help strengthen the tendons in the correct position. Chicks develop quickly so hopefully it shouldn't take long to correct. Cheryl
Urgh I have just discovered that another one of my chicks has a foot turned inwards..I have left him in the incubator to see how he is tommorrow, and have moved everyone else into a brooder .. everyone was stepping on him so I thought he might like to recover alone..he's chirping as if he's wondering where everyone has gone..poor little thing.. Any ideas about what to do..could it rectify itself?...it's a weird one to try and splint, I'll see how he is tommorrow
