Norsewood
I'm in total awe! Took delivery just YESTERDAY morning of 3 girls from Omlet with a nice bright orange cube . By 2pm today, had THREE eggs !! The delivery man said not to make up the nesting box just yet but when there was a little lone egg sitting on the perches this morning, I had to make a comfy nest box - just incase anyone needed it. It's become apparent following what has happened since that egg 1 was laid by Mrs Bumble (the biggest of the 3 & already very much the boss!) as Amy Dorrit (the smallest) laid a softie about 11am. When Nancy started acting strangely & kept disappearing up the ladder of the cube, I guessed she hadn't laid & sure enough, at 2pm another perfect little egg! Egg 1 has already been eaten with soldiers - a perfect lunch for my daughter before she goes to dancing. I can't believe what fun it is already!! I'm going to wait a week & then post a note with all my queries, but so far, I'm amazed! I'm guessing that the softies might sort out as time goes on as they were delivered as POL? Am giving the Omlet layers pellets & have grit available. Wonder how long I should wait before I add something to the feed. Although - hang on just a cotton-picking moment! Give the girls a chance!! Old Hazel
Hi I'm so pleased for you! It's very exciting - especially for someone like me who is about to get some chickens! Good luck to you and your girls! Hazel

johnandkymberley
Hi well done!! and well done to your clever hens too! We picked up our girls at 1pm and by 6pm the next day had four eggs!!! Keeping chickens never looses its wow factor moments, me and my partner were moving the cube, Hazel hadnt laid and as you can expect as soon as we started to move she needed to lay! (typical!) so i put her in the side of the cube (the eggport) and then i started to notice every time she needed to lay she was almost knocked herself out trying to get in the side! Please kepp us updated about anything else amazing!! xxx
