My Fig Tree

Recommended Posts

My Fig tree is growing in a very large pot. The leaves are going a bit yellow. I can't decide whether I'm watering enough or too much. I suppose I give it some water every 2-3 days. It could just need a feed. Any help much appreciated.

thank you.

All 4 of mine are in pots, & I do water tham every day, unless it rains.

My 2 either side of my front door are in full south facing sun all day & one started to go yellow & wilt dreadfully last week - I watered it & its perked up,but a couple of leafs have withered & gone brown :?

I would water it if it is bone dry.

Is it a well established plant or a fairly young one?

My outdoor fig in pot looked so awful despite watering etc we have planted it out in our windy garden and it seems to have picked up a bit. No sign of figs but at least it is growing. I think they either thrive or they don't, best of luck with yours.

I'm planning to plant mine when the ground is soft enough to dig, it's in a pot at the moment. They need to have their roots restricted apparently, otherwise they put out lots of roots but don't grow much foliage.

They should be ok in tubs, but mine has never flourished until this year when I got ready for planting it in the ground, and now it's suddenly gone mad, so I might keep it in the pot after all. Apparently the ideal thing to plant them in is an old washing-machine drum, or you can just fill the hole with rubble so the roots are kept back.

If it's going yellow, then I'd give it a bit of tomato feed or similar - can't do any harm - but it may just be that it dried out too much.
