chickychick
My chickies have been out in the sun quite a lot, and although they are drinking well and eating both layers mash and lots of vegetation, 2 of them seem to have a dryish comb. Is this due to the sun? (they have plenty of access to shady areas and I'm putting their food and water in the shade). Should I put any kind of sun cream on them? Should I use vaseline? The combs are still upright, not floppy and the hens seem happy, bright eyed and curious.
Christian
I would only use vaseline in the winter to give protection against frost. Sun cream will be fine if you think they might have burnt slightly.
Space Chick
I only use Vaseline in the winter too. Have you thought about using an aloe Vera child friendly aftersun? I say child friendly as they tend to be milder. This should provide some moisture and healing if they have got a bit burnt.
Lewis
I'd use a tiny bit of vaseline or olive oil and just rub it in and see if that helps
chickychick
thanks everyone, it's rained and rained today and they seem moister! Will rub a little something mild and gentle in.
