Two days of frothy white poo which is really smelly has lead to bleeding around the vent. I have given her a warm bath to clean the area and applied Sudacrem. Any ideas as to what can be causing the problem? No eggs for 4 days, there has been a steady decline in egg numbers recently and the girls have been eating the eggs that have been layed before i can collect them.

Sounds like an infection, I would take a sample with her to vet for some treatment. Hope she is ok is she well in herself? I think it could be bacterial or cocci

Thanks. Yes she seems fine in all other ways. Eating and drinking normally as far as i can tell. A trip to the vet is in order i think. What do you think of the egg eating? is this common?

If they are out of condition then they will lay soft eggs which no hen can resist eating. It doesn't mean they will eat normal ones. You can trick them with a pot one or fill one with mustard

They both look in tip top condition apart from Carmen's bottom problem. Do you think too many veggie treats could be causing the soft eggs? Could Carmen of broken an egg inside herself and that be causing the problems?

Mmm it does smell bad, especially when i was washing her in the warm water. Will be off to the vets tomorrow. Thanks

If she does have a broken egg inside her, or has any sort of abnormal or smelly discharge form her vent, she does need to be seen by a vet.

I agree that she needs to get to the vet.

 

Too many treats will result in less eggs being laid and will also affect the quality of the eggs. I'd suggest that you cut right back on the treats, make sure that their diet is around 95% layers feed with only a few treats/greens at the end of the day.
