I have been trying to hatch Baldnecks twice over, and havent been very lucky I only got two out of 18, which were sent via post I was most disappointed, so this morning I looked on the net and came across a local person with an ad for Baldnecks.. he said he only had three left he was keeping for breeding, but I convinced him to sell them to me.. Oh joy of joys! :D loOOOOOOOk at these darlings they are 1 year old and now belonng to me theres a cockeral and two girlfriends.. lets hope he's not too noisy...

They are a bit like Marmite, you either love them or hate them  I personally love them and I feel really lucky to have some, also Ive managed to hatch 3 from eggs in the last few days, so I will hopefully have a few more.. Im thinking of breeding these because I know how hard they are to get hold of especially around here.

Hi Cheryl,

Where we live Naked Necks are the most popular breed - everybody has huge flocks of 30 - 40 of them. You see them in all different colours (black, brown, white and brown) and they seem to be very amiable as a breed. Our immediate neighbour has brown ones and their little gingery "hairdo's" remind us of Bruce Forsyths wig :lol: even if we had a girl one I would just have to name her "Brucie" 8):lol::lol:

Jenny and Charlie.

A quote from the article made me chuckle out loud.....

"If its looks put you off, well, most people who have given the breed a try are usually very endeared to it very quickly, and lets face it, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the naked neck may not think you look too good, especially first thing in the morning after a night out, but they won’t be rude about it!":lol::lol:

Ive noticed from our cockerel's crow that its a very low foghorn type of sound which isnt as startleing as our Serama's one..I must add that I have had such comical comments from visitors about our Baldnecks but I personally think they are beautiful..

I have never seen Naked necks before! They look lovely characters! 8)

Well done you! :D Its always so great when you really want something for ages and eventually it all happens, you must have been very persuasive!

My big want was getting the chickens in the first place, I haven't got a list of wanted chooks yet but I am sure that will happen with time!
