If so, how often and how much do you use? I think I've heard it's effective in both sterilizing the glug and keeping the birds healthy. beach chick Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 there was a bit of chat on here quite recently about using sterilising fluid - just a couple of drops per drinker I think. Redwing Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 I use ut as the chickens in my field have water from water butts as there is no mains supply I fill a dustbin with water and add probably no more than 50mls of fluid so a couple of drops per drinker sounds about right My rule of thumb is that I should be able to smell that clean smell but not so strong it smells of Milton (does that make any sense??) Also a handful of gravel and a little water shaken around dislodges some of the green stuuf. It's a pain getting all the gravel out again though. Egluntyne Posted August 22, 2010 Share Posted August 22, 2010 I have big drinkers ( Not as big as the Flytesofancy one) and I scrub them with a brush from a supermarket dustpan and brush set, and give the inside a wipe round with Tesco's Bottle sterilising fluid and if I can, I leave it to air for a while.
