Anyone use lime in their WIR? what sort of concentration do you use I don't want to burn my chooks feet but I have heard that it helps the run smell a bit better. Mine only seems to whiff a bit when it gets damp and then dries out it has easybed all over it Stalosan seems far too expensive to chuck in the run!

It's garden lime that you want - don't use any other sort! It should be perfectly safe and you don't need to worry about their toes, just dig it in a bit as you turn the soil over and they will scratch it in.

AsOlly has said, GARDEN lime is the only sort of lime you shoudl use.

 

There are a whole host of powdered livestock disinfectants on the market, which do a good job of killing off intestinal worm eggs as well as other bacteria.
