craftyhunnypie
We are getting 2 new chooks next weekend. They are to be hubby's new layers. He's getting a Bovans Nira & a Magpie. Don't know what their names will be as yet, but I'm quite excited. He then wants some special pure ones at a later date. Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
I know they only seem to lay large too. We had a magpie before - she was beautiful. A right big typical farmyard lass with huge fluffy knickers & a taste for my fuschias! Rolo is a Bovans Nira I think. She was sold as a black rock, but is much more Bovans like. She is the oldest chicken we have...we got her 20th October 2007 at 18 weeks old. She occasionally still lays a whopper egg, but not that often. We love our chooks even when they go into retirement. craftyhunnypie
I've had so many chickens now & hatched lots too. But I still get excited over the little things. First pip, first hatch, first egg, buying new chickens. Emma.x
