Bramble
Hello! Does anyone know of a frog deterrant? I know it's utterly ridiculous, but I'm terrified of them, I can barely bring myself to type the word. I've just been out to the eglu and there's a baby one (frog, not eglu!) just by the eggport. It feels like every frog in the world is out to get me, I really don't want to hurt them, but just wish they wouldn't use my garden as a playground. All suggestions for this stupid stupid stupid problem gratefully received. Thank you for listening to me whining ...
craftyhunnypie
Not stupid at all. I too am terrified of them, so much so that I hyperventilate when I see one. I'm embarrassed by my phobia, but I can not get over it. I will be interested in any replies too. Emma.x
Bramble
Thank you craftyhunnypie, good to know Im not alone. I have done some hypnotherapy which I would recommend - Im still terrified of them, but not to the extent that I was. They're such harmless creatures, most gardeners are thrilled tocome across them ...
majorbloodnock
Apparently there is a product called (funnily enough) "Frog Repellent" which can be bought online from www.bugspray.com (a US company, but which does ship internationally). I have no idea how effective it is.
Plum
Chickens are pretty good at seeing them off but I still have lots
Reikiranf
My kittens Bollo & Naboo always bring them indoors Thankfully I don't mind picking them up, shame you don't live near me
Perfectspace
My OH also has a Frog phobia. The thing that has worked best for her is 'Graded Exposure'. You need the help of someone you trust to help you through it though. It is a tried and tested method for all phobias, and costs nothing but a bit of time and effort. We started by (me) catching some tiny baby frogs and keeping them in an old plastic fish tank (with lid), right at the end of the garden. OH just had to look up the garden and know they were there - which at first was enough to cause panic..... Once calm though, the process of a little more exposure continues. Look it up. It takes time but it works!
