Neighours cat jumped into free range area tonight. !

Recommended Posts

Good thing I was there too, chickens were happily enjoying a dust bath, when he jumped from the 6ft fence into the area they have for free ranging in. It happened so quick. I was aware that he was lurking around but didnt expect him to jump in. Needless to say I grabbed him first before any damage was done.

Just goes to show how quickly these things happen, and if I hadnt been there I dread to think of what the outcome would have been. :?

yep, if your girls are anything like mine then it was the cat you saved rather than the chooks!

our cat max is terrified of our ex-bat lulu, who chases everything from the neighbourhood cats to the visiting squirrels out of our garden on a daily basis! she didn't fancy her chances against our family of swans of though..especially when they got out of the water to eat some grass and she saw the size of them!:lol:

I accidently locked Rose our 14 week old kitten in with our 14 girls the other night...I expected to find bits of kitten every where but instead she just looked at me from behind a crowd of hens and trotted out as happy as can be :)

She also plays in the free ranging area all the time...she and the girls get on famously :)

It is definitely Chickens at least 6, cats nil in our house! Even the bantams, yes, even the ridiculous-looking Gwladys (according to DH - I think she's cute), the silkie frizzle, can intimidate the cats at will, although how she can see them with her top-knot in her eyes is beyond me!

Indeed, I think the cats' credibility with the local feline population is much higher than it should be thanks to the protection afforded by the chickens....

Our cats are pretty lazy and incompetent when it comes to fighting, mind you....:lol::lol:
