Phew! After 8 weeks the newbies are in the WIR with the big girls. The big girls went to bed first in their and the little ones found their way into their later without any help. I decided today that as the newbies are now 20 weeks old then they will have to go in the WIR like it or not! My little garden needs the extra lawn which I can lay with turf once I have managed to unclip the run (which seems like a big job).

Congratulations! I've also been dealing with integrations for the last 8 weeks; the girls have been free ranging together for the last 3 weeks but sleeping separately. This week I have moved them all into the same house and although i've got plenty of feed stations, when I first let them all out in the morning there seems to be an increase in the amount of squabbling with the original girls rushing about trying to stop the newbies from eating. It settles down over the day and everyone seems to get enough to eat but I don't like to see everything taking a backward step.

One of the new girls, Edith, has also got confused about nest boxes and has started to lay on the floor in the big house despite using the nest box in the eglu for over two weeks, but on the whole i'm quite pleased with the way it is going and i'm glad i've taken things slowly.
