I'm getting worried now(having lost new girl not long ago) I use v-mex but do keeping seeing bits of red in poohs. No worms as have good check :vom: Does this mean i should use fluebvet? Girls eating drinking seem o.k???

How old are your chickens Donna? I've usually only seen bits of gut lining in droppings in my growers, around the 4-6 month mark. If yours are older than that, the bits of red might be something else (possibly even something they've eaten!)

One way of being sure about whether they have a worm burden or not is to have a droppings sample tested. You can ask you vet to do it for you, or send it off to Retfords (poultry vet in Notts) - it costs around £10.

I personally wouldn't bother using both Flubenvet quarterly AND Verm-x monthly as you'd just be duplicating the effort and wasting your money. I use Verm-x monthly, others use Flubenvet quarterly, and some use a belts and braces approach of Verm-x monthly plus Flubenvet annually.

HTH :)

My girls are about 20 weeks now :D Had few bad times with ex-batts and lost 15 week old orp to feather mite so am being really cautious( my girls are getting relly fed up with being picked up only to have their new feather rumaged through, bum checked etc.Just want to get ir right. Will keep up with verm -x. What would symtoms be if they were ill with worms?

There's a thread here about worming.

Symptoms include looking generally unwell, hunched, ruffled feathers, mucky knickers, listless, greenish runny droppings etc etc. If your hens appear healthy, lively and are laying well (if they're old enough), then you can be confident that they're not suffering from a worm burden. Birds that look healthy generally are - it is hard not to worry though!
