MarkBevBen
Just thought I'd give you a little update on our girls. As some of you know we lost Cottie , one of our Omlet girls last weekend so as not to let Dottie get too lonely, we got two brand new girls from another supplier. We explained to the supplier our predicament and he was really helpful in selecting two new girls for us and they were both in different flocks/runs, so everyone was starting off with something new. They're 18 weeks old, so just a bit younger than Dottie. So everyone, please meet Hilda, Elsie and Dottie of course: (Hilda is the ginger girl and Elsie is the grey/white girl) Although at first things didn't seem too bad at all between them, I observed a bit of handbags between Dottie and Elsie. Strange how she instantly seemed to take to Hilda - maybe she thought Hilda was Cottie (being the same colour)? When things seemed to get a bit nasty, I made a bamboo divider in the run to try and calm things down. This seemed to do the trick in the sense they decided they all wanted to be together after all!!! I've also put in a dustbath for them to play in and Elsie particularly seems to enjoy it! I spotted her in there today with the other two with their heads in as well! Funny how they all get close together when they've got the rest of the run to play in! My Eglu extension should be arriving today - it's nearly 4pm and no sign yet though so that'll give them more space.
