Recommended Posts

Hi

Not far from you in Sth Warrington, my friends live in Neston. The only place that i know of is Gibsons in Kingsley Frodsham which is just down the M56.

Hope you and the girls are settled together

Thanks for that, yes Frodsham is a nice day out for us sometimes as a family, will make a note of that.

I'm not far from you, near Queensferry. I go to Countrystores on Sealand road on the way to Chester. The staff are really helpful and very chatty and they stock a good range of chicken stuff. I got a brillaint dog duvet from them yesterday, nothing to do with chickens but the dog loves it. they are reasonably priced too. :)

I live in Manchester but my parents are in Greasby, Wirral. I always get my stuff from Larton Livery at Frankby Stiles. They have a huge range of chicken feed, feeders, mixed corn, etc. I also get my hemcore there, garlic powder and mealworms. They have just about everything. The only thing they don't seem to stock is Stalosan F. :D

And you can have a trip to West Kirby and walk around the Marine Lake/promenade as well 8)

migsy: Thanks for the tip. I've been using the internet or pets at home in Bromborough for my supplies.

I live near Frankby and have often wondered if they do Hemcore etc? It's a bid forbidding to go all the way down that lane if they don't have hat you want and I once emailed and asked if they sell Aubioise or Hemcore and the lady told me they don't.It's good to know they do feed too.

Carr farm garden centre in Meols/Moreton also do a small range of chicken stuff and all the local pet shops have offered to order what I need in (but it's a bit pricey this way as they have to add their cut).

I was told the Petshops in Neston do chicken feed too.

Thanks for starting this thread, I live in Chester and up till now have been buying my chicken stuff at Pets at Home, but I have now been out to the Feed and Country Store on Sealand Road, and managed to get some aubiose and a few other bits and bobs for the chickens. Also got some stuff for the dog! Great store, friendly staff (one of whom carried the aubiose to the car for me).

My neighbour now tells me there is a place called Charlie's in Queensferry which is very good and cheap, so might take a drive out there some time and see what it's like.

Yes I'm really pleased. Once the omlet food has finished I'll be trying a lot of these places, ive bought a few bits from pets at home in chester but its very limited, I'll be going to sealand rd and having a look at the Frankby place. Really pleased i asked myself, and nice to know there are others round me with chickens!

Hi Trougher, Charlies is five mins down the road from me. Its ok and very good for horsey stuff but I didn't think the quality of the chicken feed was particularly good so always buy from Sealand Road. The staff are grat once you get to know them and one of them keeps chickens himself so is very helpful. They have recently started stocking Rapport as well as having easibed and aubiose in stock all the ime.

Thanks for that, Coco. Won't rush to Charlie's, but will pop out there some time.

I have put the aubiose in the run, will see how it goes. It's not how I had imagined it, I had pictured something more like hay. Might try easibed next time and see what that's like - work my way through the options, and perhaps one day make a decision!

Brambles - let us know if you find the Stamford Bridge store and what it's like, as that is quite convenient for Chester too. Is the Kingsley store worth hiking to Frodsham for?

Found the Stamford store. It's at Ringwood fencing. Turn off the A51 by the Stamford Bridge Pub (worth stopping for a meal there too). Turn right immediately. It's got a small range of chicken feeds, but worth it if you're running short. They do organic, but don't do smallholders. Picked up some easibed to try in the run - I've spent today putting clear corrugated roofing over the cube run, held by bungees. I've put clear tarp down the back and on the end to help to shelter the girls from the weather - worried about my cochin's feet getting too wet!

The corrugated sheets were a bargain from focus.
