Chicken won't go to bed!

Recommended Posts

We have two Omlet Hybrids GNRPP who are now about 2 and a half years old. 2 mths ago we bought a Lavender Leghorn and a Cream Legbar. Such different characters to our old girls  We've taken our time introducing them to each other and they are generally getting along - although it is clear the 'oldies' are boss. Virginia (the leghorn) is rather flighty and a bit cheeky with the 'oldies' but she gets away with it because she is so fast!

The problem we have is that Virginia won't go to bed in the eglu. We thought to start with the others were picking on her and making her leave - as she always goes to bed first (about an hour before the others). However, now she just goes straight to roost on the back of the garden chair (which is in their 'aviary'). Every night when we get home we have to pick her up and put her in the eglu (and then she stays there).

Any one got any ideas how to stop this? The aviary is 'safe' for her, but I'm worried she may freeze as temperatures drop!

We're going to try taking out the chair and higher perchs to see if that works this weekend - but it is a shame as they enjoy jumping up on them!
