shoura
Isla is the only one laying at the moment, what a little trooper she is, hardly ever misses a day even though she's a scrawny looking little thing! This morning I found one of her eggs out in the WIR---it was a perfectly normal egg, not a softie or anything unusual. There would not have been a queue for the nest-box as no-one else is laying. No sign of any nasties in the coop.... I am puzzled!
goodinparts
No idea, I'm afraid - though I expect someone knowledgeable will be along soon...maybe she just got "caught short"? It happened once with one of my girls too - but since then all eggs have been in the right place
Dizzy-Deb
one of my girls did this the other week and laid an egg in the WIR... there was no reason for her not to tootle off and go lay in the nest box except for the fact that my hubby was working near to the run and i think she thought she was missing out on something. My girls are very nosey.
Egluntyne
Caught short, as goodinparts suggests, or maybe a fright? I found an egg on the floor of my WIR yesterday, but I put it down to the fact that a huge crow had been divebombing the hens.
MarkBevBen
I found one in our Eglu run once, very early one. It was all normal, the only thing was trying to get it out safely!!

Cinnamon
One of mine was once on the nest when I came down with treats. She jumped off the nest for the treats & laid her egg while standing there eating

beach chick
I bought one of mine once to sit in a cardboard box in the warm as there was a softie on the way.... anyway, after a couple of hours I went to pick her up, congratulated her on the softie in straw in the box - and she promptly laid a completely normal egg right on my foot!!!!
