Delia's classic Christmas cake

I put too much fruit in this year - it was almost more of a pud than a cake, and weighed a ton, but it was delicious.

 

OH had the last piece of this left over from Xmas on Saturday (no icing or marzipan) :shock: I felt quite sad when I washed the storage tin up - I use the same tin my Mum had before me, its a Huntley & Palmer biscuit tin which must be about 50 years old! Its known as the tulip tin as it has tulips all over the front, and for some reason I only use it for the Christmas cake :roll: What are we like, pet cakes kept in sentimental tins :shock:
