daxigirl
Phew, just found one of my littlies wandering in next door's front garden. Had come back from shopping and thought they'd like to come out again for a bit before I go to work, so they were pottering about in and out of each others houses stealing food etc, I made my cup of tea and went off to open my new laptop (took the netbook back we weren't compatible) and set it up. After about 20 minutes I thought what on earth is that noise is sounds like Sunday shouting but not if you know what I mean, so I look out the back door and can only count 5 even when I shake the raisins tub. I can still hear this funny noise and realise that it's Pebbles squarking and she's actually out the front, dropped the raisins and dashed out expecting her to be in the street but she had had the sense to go into next doors garden where there's bushes, after serveral mins of round and round the very prickly rose bush she made a dash for their front door which is down a little alley and allowed herself to be cornered. As I cuddled her to me she gave me a very hard bite (not a peck) as if to say how dare you let that happen. I promise I'll not do that again, lesson learnt. Fortunately it's a quiet cul-de-sac and the old man up the road had kept his mangy little white dog in (it chases people down the road so goodness knows what it would have made of a little chicken). Need to buy more raisins now. Everyone has now retired to their houses to shame me. Bad mummy.
beach chick
that was lucky, silly little bird you'd think she'd know where the food is and stay there!!
coco
One of my ex batts Lola used to escape whenever she could. like you we live in a cul de sac. the neighbours used to laugh when I would shake the corn pot and she would come sprintingup the road. She had a better recall than the dog.
daxigirl
I guess I need to get something better than raisins for her recall. There's always one who has to be different. Little monkey.
Lewis
Ours have only really escaped to next doors garden before - luckily the side without a dog! Glad she's alright
