Steve the Gas
I've never raised chicks but my idea would be to share the eggs, 1 the hens can be together and 2 - if 1 gives up you can pop the sggs under the 1 that is gonna carry on. I would have a bator on standby too.
Snowy
You've just got to hope that they both go broody at the same time now! Have they both been broody already?

Charlie7
Well, I like the idea of two broodys. All ways good with a plan B. Now, the question is, what or actually who is plan A? Pandora or Apple? Which one will be the first choice? Any suggestions?
Redwing
Either would probably be fine, the motherly instinct should kick in I'd probably choose Apple though, the protective instinct will almost certainly come out in her and chances are she will be fine. If she is properly broody she shouldnt miss the other one whereas if she was the chook not hatching she would probably call for the other one who in turn may get agitated The other one will get the motherly instinct but if she has a mean streak she could harm the chicks - its unlikely but all the same I'd suggest that Apple was the best bet
Egluntyne
You won't be able to decide which one will go broody, you'll just have to wait and see.

If possible, Apple will be the mother. Hmm, how should I explain to her why her chicks are a different colour than her? (She's a Silver Pencilled and the chicks will be Barred) Good that they at least will be the same breed.
Plum
Ask the chickens that have hatched ducks

She was a most attentive mother.
