Snowy
Yay - I can still get excited about eggs after 4 years of keeping chickens! No eggs for a few weeks now, until 4 days ago one of my speckledies came back into lay, so nice chesnut eggs are back on the menu. Then this morning - huge excitement! A pretty little olive green egg from one of my new girls! Not sure who yet - Daisy or Daffodil. But green! I've never had a green egg before! Snowy
It was Daisy! She must have laid it yesterday and OH didn't collect the eggs whilst I was at work (I think he's given up waiting ). Finished early today and came home to find Daisy still on the nest and another little green egg! Go Daisy go!
Bramble
Yey, well done!! Do you think you could ask your girls to have a word with mine, please, seems ages since they laid any eggs!
green
Green eggs, lovely! What breed is Daisy if I may ask? I'd love to get some green eggs. I think they sell a hybrid called Sandy near me that might lay green eggs, but it says they might be prone to broodiness.
Snowy
Daisy is a columbine - a cream legbar hybrid. There is an 80% chance of blue/green eggs from them, so very pleased that she is producing green. I've had others that only laid cream eggs. Cinnamon
Very pale colouring for a Columbine - she is very pretty My Columbine Weed is possibly the ugliest hen in the world - she just has an evil look about her

green
My Columbine Weed is possibly the ugliest hen in the world - she just has an evil look about her Had to laugh out loud. I thought my Speckledy looked a bit hung over close up, but she's turning into a beauty now that her comb and wattles are reddening. Will take full responsibility of steering this thread totally OT. Snowy
Must admit I have never found cream legbars and their hybrids to be the prettiest of hens, but Daisy caught my eye immediately because of her colour. Cinnamon, you really need to post a photo of Weed!
