Whilst looking for the latest good deal on dried mealworms we found out about flaked peas.

 

We've ordered some along with our mealworms from http://shop.naturesgrub.co.uk

as by ordering 2 x 1kg packets @ £1 each we were able to bring our order to the limit needed for free postage. The mealworms were £22.99 for 2kg (which is the quantity we normally get). Hadn't known of flaked peas before this. We were looking for something to top up the price in the wild bird food.

 

This is what one site said about flaked peas:

"Animal Benefits-Peas are a source of protein rich in sulphur amino acids. Micronized peas can improve production parameters and improve feed conversion due to greater availability of nutrients and a higher energy value than other forms. They can also improve feathering in poultry".

My lot like micronised peas and like you say they are good for feathering and general condition

 

Some chooks dont like peas though

Well my lot don't like mealworms! Perhaps they'd prefer peas!

What a great site!

I have placed an order for mealworms & flaked peas,plus have ordered a nice clear bucket & lid to keep my dried hen treats in

 

I also like the look of the chicken seed & insect mix.

My local feed merchant sells them for £8.60 for 20 kg - think I'll try them.
