chickenopolis
Yesterday morning, bright crisp day, time to clean the cube. Happily going about my business with bucket of hot water and sponge in hand with the girls chirping away at me, I then saw Flo fly up into the Cube, head straight for the nest box, head down, fluffy knickers heavenwards and then rootle around as if she were digging for worms (we call it the 2 foot shuffle..left foot down, right foot down, scooch backwards). Hay was flying everywhere, she was like a little chook possessed. Was it because I was cleaning the Cube and this was her way of helping, or was she making her presence felt and telling me to get out??? She is also going through a moult. I did find it so funny, but by the time I got OH to have a look (didn't want to disturb him, he was cleaning my car) she was all but finished...hay everywhere - and as she waddled out I am sure she thought "mischief managed". Plum
How funny, Grackle always walks muddy feet around the cube while I'm cleaning it but your girl seemed really offended
Alis girls
I have an Eglu go and mine always go in the space left whilst I clean and chuck the bark around. Then when I've filled the nextbox with straw, auboise or chippings they go in and chuck it all out. I mean I know which I'd prefer on my derriere - summat soft not hard and cold
