Lesley
This was in my email newsletter this morning - I use Rainbow Silks for a lot of my craft stuff - may not be the cheapest but their quality is really good. http://www.rainbowsilks.co.uk/ProductDetails.cfm?SubCatId=427&Code=OPSITE I don't knit so I don't know if this represents good value or not........ Snowy
Does look good value as that yarn alone costs nearly £10 a ball, so worth it to get all the needles as well
Purplemaniacs
The kit is now out of stock, anyone know of a similar one or where I can buy wool, needles and pattern as I fancy having a go, never knitted socks but can knit Thanks Chrissie
Snowy
Some of the sock yarns come with a free pattern (King Cole and Regia do I think), try searching on ebay for sock yarn with free pattern I used the King Cole one, which was simple to follow. Once you have your pattern, it will tell you which size needles to use (the King Cole one uses 3mm). When you start knitting, sit in front of your laptop and follow - she is brilliant, and very easy to follow. Once you've made your first pair, you will never look back! Mrs Webmuppet
This is the free sock pattern I swear by ...............you just enter the measurements and it calculates everything for you. Works a treat. http://violetgreen.co.uk/sock_pattern_calculator.php The same store also stocks sock wool.

Snowy
Oooh, what a good site that is! Will bookmark that one! Pattern looks to be the same as the King Cole one as well.
Purplemaniacs
Wool, pattern and needles came today The needles look very thin , the scarfs I made for Christmas presents used very big needles Chrissie
Snowy
The DPNS feel very fiddly at first - I struggled with them all getting in the way, until I realised you need to keep the pair you are working with on top, and the others underneath. You will understand when you try it! Once you work that out, it is plain sailing, but don't give up too soon
