blueandwhite
Hi I have treated myself to a pair of heavy duty, cotton lined and rubber coated work gloves. My hands were getting frozen using normal washing up gloves. Best £1.50 I've spent in a while, could still feel my fingers after clearing out, feeding, de-icing etc this morning. Still snowing here but the girls don't seem to mind as much as me!
gongladosh
Wow, you've got a hen called 'ebay'!?!?
blueandwhite
Hi yes! So called because I sold lots of stuff on ebay in order to fund the eglu and the purchase of my girls. I wanted to call one 'ee' and one 'bay' but my son put his foot down and called his 'Phoebe'. It was rather embarrasing when the vet asked their names. gongladosh
fantastic! I didn't dare tell the vet our hens' middle names! One was named because I woke up with News 24 on TV and in large letters on screen I saw the words 'Kent Tremors' - I thought that's a *great* name for a reporter... I then found out it was about an earthquake in Kent, so one of the hens eventually became Kent Tremors, or Kent as far as the vet was aware. Egluntyne
Where did you get these gloves, blueandwhite? I might have to invest in a pair.
Plum
Panic buy of the next omlet must have. Where were they from?
blueandwhite
Hi thanks for making me laugh, Kent Tremors is a great name! I got the gloves from a local Hardware shop that sells just about anything - it's called Toolbox (in Nuneaton). But I think I have seen them in DIY stores like B&Q/Homebase; the rubber outer is red. Really are a 'must have' for winter chicken keeping. Hope you find some.
Cranfield Kate
can i also recomnmend investing in a pair of fleece gloves from decathlon for a £1 and wearing them INSIDE your new gloves for added cosiness? best £1 i ever spent. blueandwhite
Good idea - thanks. My gloves are a bit big so that will be a way of padding them out. Sure we will all have cozy fingers from now on!
