Smart Feeder - Light sensor values

Have been pondering all summer about whether to extend their run but now the weather is so miserable and wet they are in the run more so decided to go for it today. OH is going to set it up for me on Tuesday when it comes as we will have to extend the covering of the sides and top to keep them snug. Then I will have more room to put things in to keep them occupied, there were some good suggestions on another thread.

I always feel happier when they have more room. Have you got in to the habit when you are out of looking at every skip for small items of furniture and thinking 'that would be good for their run' yet?

Not quite but I have rescued a small pine stool which OH is going to cut down to size and I am on the look out for some fruit tree branches. You,ve made me think though as our rubbish dump has a recycling area, I bet I could get all sorts there!

I got a garden bench for my run from our tip. Cleaned up and painted it's great for sitting in with the girls in the winter

I've got a Go so don't think I will fit! Love sitting in the garden with them though, I wouldn't have believed before just how much pleasure they would give me.

Well look for one for watching from outside then and a kiddies one to go in the Go for them

I find I'm always on the look out for bits and bobs for the girls too. Just bought a table from Ikea for 3.99 and the lovely man at the rubbish tip retrieved a bird bath base (it's very ugly with painted squirrels running up it) from the dumpster all to go in the new holiday hens run. My girls have a bird bath base in their run and they seem to love it for beak wiping, pooping and napping on.

You won't regret ordering an extension, even though it's only 1 metre, I can't tell you the difference it made to my chucks, the run looks HUGE now, in comparison (and I don't think they were exactly unhappy before, being exbatts). Enjoy it!!

Had email to say the extension has been despatched GLad it will make a difference although I am sure they will still pester to come out every they see me! Loads of great ideas on here though, bought a wine rack from a charity shop today for 99p, on it's side it has lots of perching space. They were horrified when I put it in so guess I need to give them time to get used to it.

A wine rack is very scarey almost as bad as the first corn on the cob I gave my girls

Hope they are getting more used to the wine rack. I must say I would find an empty wine rack in my house quite scary too .

Know what you mean I have taken it out as it was obviously scaring them and have put It on the patio for them to get used to when they are FR. Ditto new dust bath, guess I needed them to have more stimulation than they could deal with!
